Spain: The Fabra I Coats Cultural and Creation Centre

Location: Barcelona, Spain

The site is situated in a working-class district. Formerly an industrial textile factory, it was closed as an industrial plant in 2005 and recently re-opened as a social innovation and creativity centre, whereupon it has become an engine of the contemporary culture of the city. It presents an example of participatory governance of a self-managed, multi-purpose and transformed space.
